Damage in Cheshire Too Extensive for CL&P to Provide Restoration Schedule

A time line of restoration schedules released on Tuesday doesn't include Cheshire.

Expect power to be out in Cheshire at least through Wednesday based on a damage assessment by CL&P.

A schedule released Tuesday morning by the utility doesn't include Cheshire. It notes that damage assessments are still underway in some of the hardest hit areas. CL&P said it expects to have restoration estimates available for all towns by Wednesday.

A significant number of towns in the list, however, show restoration is not expected until late this week or into the weekend.

The town is operating a 24-hour emergency shelter at Cheshire High School where residents may take a shower, get warm and get a snack. Cots and blankets are available for overnight stays, but residents should bring their own sheets, pillows, medicine and other essentials.

About 60 residents visited the shelter on Monday to warm up, charge their cell phones and hunker down for another day without power.

Gas stations and restaurants are open in parts of Southington and Wallingford's power is 99 percent restored. Expect long lines at gas stations.

Looks like many people may be getting power back today despite no estimate. CL&P's site shows Cheshire is down from 90% out to 60% out.
