Schools Letting Students Use Tablets, Smartphones

A new generation of high-tech devices have made their way into Cheshire classrooms.

The public schools is one of the first school districts in the area to allow students to use the for doing school work.

An article in the New Haven Register reported that Cheshire High School has started a BYOD, "bring your own device," pilot program for about 75 students. The school does not provide iPads, iPhones, Kindles and other similar computer devices, but the district allows parents to provide them for their children to bring to school.

Among the educational uses of the devices are note-taking, research, ebook downloads, research and access to Internet tutorials.
