[POLL] Senator Returns to Cheshire to Talk Taxes

Sen. Len Suzio provides petition to cap the gas tax.

Petitions in hand, state Sen. Len Suzio (R-Meriden) returned to Cheshire on Monday to continue his campaign to cap the gross receipts tax on gasoline.

Because it was a holday weekend, and a Monday, Suzio likely got a bigger media audience than he did during several other petition drives he's held in Cheshire since last summer.

In August, Suzio set up camp at Everybody's Market on South Main Street where about a dozen shoppers signed his petition.

During his visit on Monday, according to CT News Junkie, Suzio told the media and a group of supporters that he wants the issue to be debated on the floor of the House of Representatives.

However, in a January story about Suzio's cap the tax effort, the Connecticut Mirror reported a debate isn't likely during the legislative session that began earlier this month.
