MidState Medical Center’s MediQuick Cheshire celebrated its one year anniversary on November 7. Since opening last year, it has become a staple in the community for meeting residents’ urgent health care needs.
“The patients we’ve seen in Cheshire are thrilled that we are here. Many times they say, ‘We’ve needed something like this for so long,’” said Walt Kupson, DO, medical director of MediQuick Cheshire.
At MediQuick Cheshire, residents can find treatment for a variety of minor illnesses and injuries including sore throats, coughs, colds, flu-like symptoms, pink eye, earaches, sinus pain, sports injuries, sprains, strains, cuts and the like. Even with its ability to handle such a large scope of medical complaints, anyone experiencing chest pain should always call 9-1-1.
Additionally, MediQuick Cheshire boasts x-ray services onsite and point-of care testing for ailments like strep throat. “All in all, our patients are generally in and out in less than 20 minutes, and many take comfort in knowing that we always have a physician onsite, as well as emergency room-trained nurses.”
“Our mission is to take care of patients when a patient’s primary care doctor isn’t available, but our priority is to get our patients back to their primary care physician. It’s all about continuity and coordination of care,” said Kupson.
So next time you’re feeling ill on a Sunday afternoon, remember that MediQuick Cheshire is open seven days a week, including holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It’s located at 680 South Main Street (Rte 10), just south of Cheshire High School, at the MidState Family Health Center.
