Elizabeth Miller to Receive National Award

New Haven (June 18, 2014) – John R. Quinn, President & CEO of the VNA of South Central Connecticut (VNA/SCC) announced Home Visitor with the VNA/SCC Nurturing Families Network (NFN) Elizabeth Miller will be receiving the National Parent Educator of the Year Award! This award is presented by The Parents as Teachers National Center to Parent Educators who have provided outstanding work in their field.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is an international prenatal through age 5 child development curriculum used all over the world by home visitors and other early childhood educators for families with prenatal families and families with children up to and including the age of 5. Each year Parents as Teachers holds an international conference where over 1,000 participants attend workshops and seminars to learn the latest in early care and education. The Parent Educator of the Year Award is presented to three Parent Educators nationwide who provide outstanding service to the families they see.

This year Elizabeth Miller of Milford, Home visitor with the VNA/SCC NFN program is one of the recipients. Elizabeth has been a Home Visitor/Parent Educator with VNA/SCC NFN for four years. Her Program Manager, Pamela Lorenzo, nominated Elizabeth on the merits of her outstanding work with the families she visits. "Elizabeth goes above and beyond her daily work for all of her families through building a supportive relationship and teaming up with the families to make each family the best prepared parents they can be. She tailors her work with each family depending on the child's age and the family’s needs. Elizabeth has truly been an asset to the program and I am so very proud to have her on my team!"
