The highlight of the Duck Day and Race will be at 2:00 p.m. sharp, when 20,000 rubber ducks will be dumped from the Whittemore Bridge at the corners of Maple and Water Streets. The ducks will race down the Naugatuck River with the ambition to be among the first 25 ducks to win the competition. Festivities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Maple and Water Streets will include a full day of games, food and craft vendors, circus talent, business booths, live music and much more. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day, and in advance, for the Duck Race, and tickets must be purchased to be eligible to win 1 of 25 prizes.

Anyone who would like to be a contestant should wear their costume to Duck Day and register at the “Halloween in June” Costume tent on Maples Street between 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.” The contest is being sponsored by Anomatic Corp., The Eastern Company, Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home. The contest will include cash prizes in judging categories that range from children in pre-K to adults 18 years and older.
