Cheshire Community Pool Users Unite to Support Permanent Structure

A group of residents have taken to the Internet and Facebook to promote the construction of a permanent structure over the town pool.

Ahead of Thursday's joint meeting of the Cheshire Community Pool Evaluation Committee and the Town Council, a group of residents have banded together to promote the solution that calls for a permanent structure to be built over the pool.

The committee is considering three options, which it will present to the public Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.

The group, the Friends of the Cheshire Pool, is advocating the ability to keep the pool open year round. It released the following:

"The community group Friends of Cheshire Pool supports a viable long term solution to ensure that the Cheshire Community Pool is enjoyed all year round.

"The Cheshire pool is an asset to the community. It is a resource that offers fun, fitness and therapeutic activities for seniors, adults and children alike. The pool is a safe and fun environment for children to learn the life skill of swimming, it promotes a healthy lifestyle for the community and supports the local economy by attracting thousands of swim team members and their families from all over the state.

"The Cheshire Community Pool Evaluation Committee is holding a public information session on June 27, 2013 at 7:30 at Town Hall.  The Friends of Cheshire Pool urge all those interested in the remaining options for the pool to attend.
