Cheshire's July 4th Events

A patriotic gathering on the Green, family music concert and fireworks to end the day!

To kick-off holiday events in Cheshire, residents are invited to a free patriotic concert by the Cheshire Community band on July 3 at 7 p.m. on the Green.

Then, on July 4, a reading of the Declaration of Independence will be held at 10 a.m. on the Cheshire Green. Here is an announcement from the Bennett family about their event:

The Fourth of July is a sacred day on which we should celebrate the blood, sweat and tears that went into the founding of our great nation. Our family is planning a public reading of the Declaration of Independence and other historical readings to commemorate this special day. We have finally secured all the necessary permissions to host the event on the green in Cheshire, CT (in front of the Congregational Church). We invite you and your family to join us at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 4, as we celebrate the freedoms we all hold dear.

To wrap up the day, the traditional fireworks show offered by the Kurtz family will begin about 9 p.m. at 1604 Peck Ln. The family, third generation farmers in Cheshire, have provided a July 4 fireworks show on Peck Lane for decades, offering a free show to residents.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated the location of the July 3 concert.
