Cheshire Student Earns Rotary Scholarship

A Cheshire girl was among those recently honored by the Hamden Lodge 2224 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, serving Hamden and North Haven, as one of the two 2013 recipients of their Annual Lodge Scholarship in honor of Edward J. Connolly.

They were each presented with a $500 Scholarship Award at the Annual Lodge Youth Activities.

Shown with Lodge Scholarship Chair Neil Colwell and Lodge President Alton Hudson are Chandler Elizabeth Caso, grand daughter of Ed Caso who attends Cheshire High School, and Madelyn Nicole Festa, grand daughter of member Fred DeAmbrose, who attends Trumbull High School.

These high school students are the children, grandchildren or legal wards of a current member in good standing of the Hamden Elks Lodge. This scholarship is in addition to Elks National Foundation scholarships being offered to high school seniors through the Hamden Elks and other Lodges throughout the country. Congratulations to the Lodge Scholarship recipients and to all of Youth Award honorees, including Hoop and Soccer Shoot winners, Drug Awareness Poster and Essay Contest winners and Americanism Essay Contest winners, who were honored at the Banquet.
