Esty to Participate in Mental Health Forum

Cheshire state Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) will be among the panelists presenting at a public forum July 1 on mental health sponsored by the Meriden Healthy Youth Coalition and Rushford, a Hartford HealthCare partner.

The forum takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Rushford, 883 Paddock Ave. in Meriden

This forum is part of the commitment of Hartford HealthCare affiliates to improve public understanding of mental health issues by holding open discussions on the topic throughout the region. The forums will center on why the mentally ill have been stigmatized, what can be done about stigma, the risk factors for mental illness, navigation of the mental health system and mental health first aid.

Other panelists include psychiatrist J. Craig Allen, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Rushford, freelance writer and consumer Regina Cram, and Sheryl Sprague, certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Rushford’s Prevention Manager.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP to this event, please contact Veronica Parsloe at vparsloe@rushford.org or call 203.630.5392.
