Free Statewide Fishing Day on Saturday

The warm Columbus Day weekend forecast will entice families and friends to enjoy an early fall outing, so what's better than bringing along fishing poles to try out the sport of fishing - for free!
The Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) has set Saturday as “Free Fishing Day” to allow anglers to fish without a license. The option is open to state residents and out-of-state visitors for inland and marine fishing.
“We view this as a great opportunity for experienced anglers to get a family member, friend or acquaintance outdoors and introduce them to the sport of fishing,” said Susan Frechette, Deputy Commissioner of DEEP.
