On Tap Today: Nutritional Talk, Help a Cheshire Neighbor, Homeless Pups

Five things to help you get organized on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

Hello from Cheshire Patch! Today is Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

1. How's your diet? Are you eating the right foods? Do you know what the right foods are? Join us today at noon for a live chat with Pauline Weissman, Certified Nutrition Specialist, and get all your questions answered.

2. Help out a Cheshire resident in need and sample some great beers at the same time at Weedstrong Brewfest on Aug. 18 at Quassy Amusement Park in Woodbury. Cheshire resident Mike Weed suffered a stroke recently and the proceeds will benefit him and his family. Find them on Facebook here.

3. On Friday, David Garlitz, on tour from France, hosts Happy Hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Funky Monkey in the Watch Factory Shoppes, 130 Elm St. Following Garlitz will be Stand Up Comedy Night beginning at 8 p.m.

4. Thinking of adopting a new dog? The New Haven Animal Shelter is overfull and has many great dogs to chose from, including Pecan, a year-old hound mix.

5. In case you missed it: The Outlets in Cheshire retail and residential development — one of the largest the town has seen in years — took a step forward this week when it won initial Planning and Zoning approvals.
