STRATFORD - A recent Stratford Town Ordinance Committee meeting heard the motion to shift liability from the town to homeowners for damages and accidents occurring on sidewalks in residential neighborhoods. The ordinance, which was one of several controversial ones on the agenda, bit the dust. Against the change was Councilman Matthew Catalano who motioned to “strike the ordinance from the agenda” adding, “I would sooner cut out my liver with a dirty spoon than vote for this.”

MILFORD - Buddy, a two-time offender, is on death row and the end could be near. Buddy isn’t your typical inmate; he’s a seven-year-old golden retriever who has been in quite a bit of trouble for sometime. Buddy aggressed and bit other dogs in two similar incidents–one in October and one in March–and is facing a certain death as prescribed by the Milford Animal Control Office. During the incidents, the attacked dog owners sustained injuries in relation with trying to break up the dogfights. Buddy is scheduled to be put down on Wednesday in Hartford and the Hearing Officer Richard Joaquin stated that the dog should be disposed but noted that he is not a threat to humans.

EAST HAVEN - It’s all about location, location, location for East Haven businesses owners who responded to a survey posed by the town's Economic Development Commission. Some 700 surveys were sent out to businesses owners and though only 10 percent have been returned so far, owners are stating that they chose East Haven as a backdrop for their commerce because of location, the business environment and reasonable real estate prices.

However, since the surveys were filled out anonymously, it's a tad unclear what part of town business owners are referring to. Check out the results .

BRANFORD - New math verses old math was a recent hot topic at the town regular Board of Education meeting. In an open forum, parents, Board members and administrators discussed the new math core program and the supplemental new and old math materials that accompany it. Do you know about new math and have any thoughts on how the subject should be taught? .
