Cheshire Snow Central: Schools Closed Friday

The latest information on how the snow storm, dubbed Hercules by the National Weather Service, is impacting schools, roads and businesses.

Updated 8 p.m.:

Tonight's Board of Education budget presentation meeting is CANCELLED. The Superintendent's Budget Presentation will be added to the Jan. 7 meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Dodd Middle School.  Click here for Meeting Schedule, Agendas and Minutes.

There is a parking ban in effect for the Town of Cheshire from 6 p.m. Thursday until 9 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014.

Updated 7:45 p.m.:

The Department of Motor Vehicles is cancelling ALL ROAD TESTS for tomorrow (Friday, January 3). The cancellation is due to expected inclement weather and poor road conditions.

Anyone with a scheduled road test can call DMV to choose a new date. The numbers to call are 860-263-5700 if someone is within the Hartford area and toll-free 800-842-8222 for those outside the Hartford area. DMV is also attempting to contact customers with road test appointments to advise them of the schedule change.

Updated 3 p.m.:

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has ordered the partial opening of the State Emergency Operations Center.

DMV offices closed at 3 p.m. today because of the snow.

Cheshire Public Schools will have an early dismissal today, Jan. 2, due to the impending snowstorm.

The storm is expected to dump up to a foot of snow over the next 36-48 hours, according to forecasts.
