Community Corner

This Week in Cheshire

Today is Monday, Oct. 28 and here's what's going on this week in Cheshire:

— Tonight at 7 p.m. at Cheshire High School, the Cheshire Townwide PTA Council is sponsoring a forum for the Board of Education candidates running in the election this November. "We encourage citizens to attend this forum to hear the candidates address critical issues that affect our children’s education here in Cheshire," the council urges.

— Rabbi Hesch Sommer will lead a bereavement support group Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth David. The meeting is free and all are welcome.

— On Thursday (Halloween), The Cornerstone Church in Cheshire will be holding its annual Shine the Light Night from 5 to 8 p.m.  This annual outdoor event will not be held on the grounds of The Cornerstone Church due to construction, but will be held in Cheshire at Bishops Farms at 500 South Meriden Road.  This event offers the community a safe, free, and fun alternative to Halloween and feature bounce houses, a super slide, train rides, hayrides, face painting and a free raffle.  To make sure that the kids don’t go home empty-handed, candy will be distributed as well.  Light refreshments will be provided free of charge.

— On Friday, Come out for a fun evening and Support the Cheshire Land Trust at Cheshire Denali in Maplecroft Plaza, 151 HIghland Ave., where for $20 per person gets you a Pint Glass to keep, beer, wine, refreshments and entertainment! Pay at the door or contact Janice Bryden for tickets in advance.
