Time for Cheshire Dogs to Get Their License!

Connecticut residents must license their dogs in June.

The Town of Cheshire’s website recently reminded residents that town dogs must be licensed between June 1st and June 30th and that early renewals are not permitted.

Connecticut law mandates that dogs older than six months this June must be licensed or their licenses must be renewed in June at the Town Clerk's office. It costs $8 to license a spayed or neutered dog and $19 to license a dog that is not spayed or neutered.

When residents register their dogs, they must present an up-to-date certificate of a rabies vaccination that is signed by a veterinarian. If a resident is overdue to license a dog, they will be charged $1 for each month that the dog was not licensed.

Dog tags need to be attached to the dog’s collar. You can download the application for a dog license here.
