Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury's Inaugural Mardi Gras Celebration

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury will be bringing a bit of New Orleans to Waterbury! We would like to announce HFHGW’s inaugural Mardi Gras celebration Friday, February 3, 2012. The event will be held at the historic Palace Theatre and will feature music, dancing, festive hors’doerves and desserts as well as strolling mime performers and jugglers. Members of the Waterbury Arts Magnet School’s Habitat Campus Chapter will be present and will provide one of a kind Mardi Gras masks for auction. The funds raised will be used to build the next HFHGW home in the Greater Waterbury area for a deserving family. The emcee for the evening will be Teresa LaBarbara. LaBarbera, a Middlebury native and graduate of Pomperaug High School and UConn.  Currently an on air personality with WTNH News Channel 8, Teresa spent some time in Monroe, Louisiana pursuing her career in broadcasting.  While there she covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and was the host of the area’s annual Mardi Gras parade.  The Mardi Gras will benefit HFHGW’s next build and is presented in partnership with the WAMS Campus Chapter. Tickets are $50 per person.  For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.waterburyhabitat.org , or call 203-596-0014.Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury is a nonprofit organization that works side by side with volunteers and partner families to build simple and decent homes.  Through the work of Habitat affiliates, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing.
