Now that the Fall Weather is here, come visit the Cheshire Historical Society's Hitchcock-Phillips House located on the Church Green in the center of Cheshire. Full of historical information, artifacts, displays and other items from long ago, you will be amazed at the amount of material at your Cheshire Historical Society. Sunday afternoons can take on a whole new dimension as you explore the Cheshire Historical Society. There is a Heritage Walk, a self guided tour that you can take around the Church Green. There is an "I Spy" game for children where kids can take a list of items and try to locate them in the many rooms in the Historical Society (what does a grain shovel look like anyway? or a bed warmer? or a barite miners hat!). Our Toy Room has ice skates from long ago (and they look nothing like roller blades!). How did people bake bread 200 years ago? How did they wash their clothes? What did people use before computers? All of this and more is at the Cheshire Historical Society. There is a Toy Room with many old fashioned toys to view. There is a Keeping Room that kind of sort of was the kitchen 150 years ago. Please stop by and take a look! We have docents available to help with questions or give you a mini-tour. And private appointments can be set up for groups and schools. We are YOUR Cheshire Historical Society so come by and take a look!
