Froyo World to Open in Cheshire

Frozen yogurt franchise to open in Maplecroft Plaza

A frozen yogurt franchise is expected to open this spring in the former Holly's Hallmark store in Maplecroft Plaza. The small franchiser, Froyo World, is based in New Haven.

A company representative couldn't be reached for comment, but a contractor on Wednesday said the store at 191 Highland Ave. is expected to open in May.

Froyo World bills itself as "Connecticut’s first self-serve frozen yogurt lounge." The company plans to open six locations in Connecticut this spring, according to its website, including outlets in Cheshire, North Haven and Hamden.

The company is owned by William and Dennis Bok of Branford, according to state records. It incorporated in March 2010. Froyo" is industry slang for "frozen yogurt."

The announcement of the franchise in Cheshire comes just two months after the Hallmark store closed in early February.

It is nice to see empty store fronts coming to life! Very excited to try their frozen yogurt.

I didn't know the Hallmark store had closed. I liked that store. That's too bad.

This is not the first Frozen Yogurt Lounge in CT. NuVita Frozen Yogurt and Cafe opened in Orange last year with Self Serve Yogurt in 8 varieties that vary each month, toppings and comfortable seating, couches, free WiFi and live music. It is owned by a 26 year old Amity Grad, who is opening franchises in a few places already.

Thanks for letting us know! That's how the company bills itself. Good to hear about a young entrepreneur. Congrats!
