Owen's Deli to Close Friday

Owner says "time to move on."

After a decade of business, owner Owen Pritchard has announced he is closing

A note taped to the window of the small business at 912 So. Main Street states that the deli is going to close on Friday.

Pritchard couldn't be reached for comment but employees of the deli said about six people worked at the business.

Several customers came in to get made-to-order sandwiches around noon on Wednesday, giving the impression that it was business as usual.

Fresh bread was stacked behind the deli counter and the cooler was stocked with soda, but the closing is just 48 hours away.

"We had a good run, and a lot of fun, but after 10 years it's time to move on. As of Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, the deli will be closing. Thanks for your business and support. We will miss you all," the note said.

In September, Owen's deli was one of the entrants in the chili cookoff sponsored by which benefitted the . The event raised over $2,000 and collected 900 pounds of food for the pantry.
