Philips Recalls Nearly 2 Million Light Bulbs

Nearly two million reflector flood lamps recalled due to danger of laceration.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of EnergySaver and Marathon Compact Fluorescent Dimmable Reflector bulbs.

The recall was announced because the glue that attaches to the lightbulb can fail, allowing the glass globe to fall from a light fixture.

Philips has received 700 reports of the glass bulb falling causing injury or property damage.

The bulbs were sold nationwide from March 2007 - July 2011 for between $11 and $24.

The commission said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamps and contact Philips to receive instructions on how to receive a free replacement lamp.
