Pondside Plays and Apples Galore
A premiere at Cheshire Academy and the ever-popular Apple Harvest Festival fit the budget this weekend.
Welcome in fall with a outdoor theatre performance Friday at A new series called "Pondside Plays" will offer a number of short scenes with student actors.
The free performance at 6:45 p.m. is the premiere event for the new “Out of the Box” series, so called because the plays are not being staged in the Black Box theatre.
Pondside Plays begins at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the pond near the backfields on the Academy campus.

Eat an Apple Fritter. It’s apples galore at the Apple Harvest Festival this weekend and next, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, and Oct. 7-9. Admission, parking and entertainment are all FREE! Sunday features a parade and a “Harvest the Arts” program with local musicians, artists and authors. Lots going on - and great fun!

Celebrate global society at the Hamden Multicultural Kids’ Fest Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hamden Town Center Park, 2783 Dixwell Ave. Performances by a Brazilian duo, an African dance troupe, Salsa Club and folk artists, plus a multicultural fashion show, food, exhibits, crafts, moonbounce and more. Rain will bring the festivities indoors at Hamden Middle School.
