[UPDATE] Visions for Vacancies: Cheshire Restaurant

The future use for Shangri-La? Here's some ideas.

Cheshire folks let us know what they would like to see open up in the long-empty Shangri-La space in the Cheshire Shopping Center on South Main Street. Here are their comments:

Wish list:
Max Burger
Max Fish
Panera
Au Bon Pain
Chipotle
Not a pharmacy, Package Store or DD

I too like independently owned businesses! The idea of a health food restaurant, medium priced. Great idea.

No more pharmacies! Ditto on the Panera, Au Bon Pain. There are no midvalue restaurants in town, either really casual or really expensive. Also, what about a Michaels or a Payless?

A casual dining restaurant like a Friday's that is appropriate to bring kids to, and also has a good bar atmosphere for watching games.

No more chains!

A Jewish Deli or Bakery

A high quality, authentic Asian fusion restaurant with sports bar

Shake shack

From Cheshire Patch Facebook

Trish Spagnola Kelly What about a family restaurant? A Panera Bread, a burger place or a decent lunch place?

Cheshire Patch I like that idea! It would be nice if it were independently owned! Maybe a spot for steamed cheeseburgers to fill the gap left when Owen's Deli closed?

Lisa Raczka Restaurant !

Kelly DeChello Family Restaurant, Healthy options!!! no more fast food please :) Love the Panara idea!

Karen McAviney Not a pizza place, liquor store or dunkin donuts..please!!

Marilyn Raines definitely an "old Waverly Tavern" type place with sandwiches, burgers...........NOTHING upscale, but no more pizza places, banks or liquor stores!!!!!!!

Judy Helbock Senft Also, something along the lines of the old Damons...where you could bring your kids, grab a bite, watch sports on the numerous tv's--similar to Sliders in Southington...

Kathy Zagami-Ecke Good idea Judy! I also like the independently owned idea! Healthy options would be nice...would love organics!

Dina Garbatini-Delbuono ‎5 Guys Burgers and Fries!!!

Ashley Brady Cheesecake Factory!

Melissa Cahill Yonych Definitly not a liquor store of a pharmacy! I think we have enough of those!!! Something food related but not chinese, or italian that seems to be all we do have.

Cheshire Patch I would like something like a Damon's too. Spent some fun times there, TV monitors in every booth... way ahead of their time!

Margaret Cornish Persian, Greek, Ethiopian...a restaurant of any ethnicity other than Italian or Chinese!

Jennifer Marsilio Bates I want a nice low-key place to get a great salad! Pick your toppings, made and tossed with dressing in front of you.

You can let us know what you would like to open in the former restaurant site. The majority want a restaurant, but what kind? Tell us in the comments!

Independant & reasonably priced family sports bar/restaurant similar to Damon's but with healthy options! This type of establishment is sorely needed in Cheshire so we don't have to drive to 'another town" to eat before & after our sporting activities - its a 'no brainier"!!
