The Grotto Restaurant Celebrating 75th Anniversary Through Sept. 14

The Grotto Restaurant, a Waterbury dining landmark, launched their 75th anniversary celebration with a ribbon cutting, pizza and Italian cake at their 634 Watertown Avenue restaurant on September 11th.

Owners Bernadette and Joe Graziosa (center) will continue the celebration through Saturday, September 14, 2013 with $19.38/person with soup or salad, entrée, dessert and a glass of wine daily specials in representation of the 1938 year The Grotto opened. The restaurant, catering and wholesale company is well-known throughout the region for serving fresh Italian pasta and sauces that are all made on-site.

Through the morning of September 14, the public is invited to enter The Grotto’s special 75th Anniversary Door Prize Contest. Purchase is not necessary to enter the contest and winners will be announced at 3 p.m. on September 14. Winners need not be present at the drawing to receive their prizes. To support the local food bank, The Grotto is asking visitors to bring in a non-perishable food item.

On hand to congratulate and assist the Graziosa’s with their ribbon cutting on Sept. 11 (l to r) were: Connecticut General Assembly Representative Victor Cuevas, MS, ABD; Waterbury Regional Chamber Membership Director Cathy Dalton; City of Waterbury Economic Development Director Joseph McGrath; City of Waterbury Mayor Neil M. O’Leary; Bernadette and Joe Graziosa; Senator Robert Kane (R-32); and Rep. Jeff Berger (D-73). A correspondence of congratulations was also read aloud by Representative Berger on behalf of Senator Joan Hartley.

More than 50 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and the Graziosa’s report they were joyfully welcoming long-time ‘friends for decades’, and new friends, to The Grotto to participate in their anniversary celebration.
