Cheshire Land Trust Hike on Saturday

Early birds will get the most out of adventuresome hike.

The Cheshire Land Trust will hold a hike on Saturday at 8 a.m. as part of its Fall Hike Series.

Participants will hike to Roaring Brook Falls, around part of Prospect Ridge, and end at the CLT’s Russell property.

“This will be the most challenging hike of the CLT Fall Hike Series, running for approximately three miles over rolling and steep terrain,” states the CLT website.

Prospect Ridge divides Cheshire from Prospect and Bethany. Deforestation in the 1800s rendered the land useless for farming, and by 1928 the area had returned to its natural state.

The CLT acquired Prospect Ridge in 1970. Several animal species which are rare or endangered in Connecticut live on the land.
