Cheshire Opens Hurricane Sandy Emergency Shelter

The town also has closed all offices for the day.

The town has opened its emergency shelter at the Youth Center at 559 South Main St., for anyone who is out of power or otherwise needs to leave their home, local officials have announced.

In addition, all town offices were closed at noon today, including the Senior Center, the Cheshire Public Library and the Community Pool and will be closed tomorrow. All evening meetings and events at town facilities also have been canceled for Monday and Tuesday.

Trash will be collected today for residents with Monday pickup and the hauler will make a decision later today regarding collection for residents with Tuesday pickup.

The town will post that and other hurricane-related information on its website.
