Make Your Own Jalapeno Poppers for Super Bowl Sunday

This takes a little bit of work, but the taste is worth the effort.

It's hard to find already-made jalapeno poppers at the grocery store, so why not make them yourself for the gang for Super Bowl Sunday. They will be the hit of the party!

Ingredients:

  • 10 jalapeno peppers
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 10 bacon strips, halved

Makes 20 poppers. Recipe is easily doubled.

Cut the peppers in half lengthwise, keeping the stems intact but removing the seeds.

Stuff each half with about 2 teaspoons of cream cheese, using your clean fingers if necessary.

Wrap each stuffed pepper with a half-strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Try to get the bacon to cover the cream cheese filling as best as you can.

Preheat your broiler on a med-low setting. Lightly spray a double broiler tray with Pam or another non-stick spray. Use a broiler tray as you want the grease from the bacon to drip to a bottom tray away from the poppers or the bacon will not crisp. Place the poppers on the tray cream cheese side down to start.

Broil for about 10 minutes and then carefully turn the poppers filling side up. Broil for another 10 minutes or so or until bacon is crisp on all sides. Watch this carefully as it can go from crisp to burned in seconds!!

Remove toothpicks. Serve immediately.
