No Jurors Chosen Monday for Komisarjevsky Trial

Jury selection for Cheshire home invasion defendant now in seventh week.

No jurors were chosen Monday for the trial of Joshua Komisarjevsky, the second Cheshire home invasion defendant.

State prosecutors used two peremptory challenges and defense attorneys used one, according to a source knowledgeable about the jury selection process in the death penalty case at New Haven Superior Court.

Defense attorneys have now used 22 challenges and prosecutors have used 19. Both sides get up to 40 challenges, which they can use to excuse jurors without giving a reason.

Nine jurors have been chosen so far, three men and six women, for the trial, which is scheduled to begin in September.

Komisarjevsky faces the death penalty for the triple homicide of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters, Hayley and Michaela, during a home invasion, kidnapping and robbery in 2007.
