Relive Cheshire's Memorial Day Parade [Photos & Videos]

Floats, bands and military marchers entertain.

Parents called to children, “Here they come!” as the Cheshire Memorial Day parade came into view. The annual parade featured trucks, floats, and several hundred marchers representing the Cheshire community and Memorial Day's spirit of rememberance.

The two-mile long procession took just under two hours to march south on Highland Avenue from the Cheshire Police Station to Cheshire High School.

Many groups and floats tossed candy to the crowd. Some kids even brought buckets and baskets to gather the loot.

Theo Batty was one of the many young spectators. From his wheelchair, he held a sign which read, "Thank You Shriners, Theo." According to his grandmother Priscilla Batty of Lanyon Drive, he received help at a Shriners hospital and every year he attends the Cheshire parade. He even got a motor car ride one year.

A classic way to kick off the summer season, the parade drew people from many locations to watch a display of civil pride and honor for veterans.
