Cheshire Veterans Groups Seek New Members

The Cheshire Veterans Council is seeking members for its organizations, which are American Legion Post 92, Veterans of Foreign War Post 10052, the Army Air Force Round Table and Am Vets.  People who served in the U.S. military are invited to join.

According to John White, VFW Post Commander, “We veterans served America when we were in uniform and now, as civilians, we continue to serve our country through the activities of our organizations.  We sponsor various public events, such as the Memorial Day Parade, Memorial Day Concert, Veterans Day ceremony on the Green and Flag Day activities.  These events are intended to honor America and to educate the public about the armed forces and their veterans.  Our activities also include support for those now serving in the military and for their families.  Most of all, we are dedicated to serving fellow veterans, their widows and orphans.”

The Army Air Force Round Table is unique to Cheshire.  It was begun in 1990 by World War Two veterans of the Army Air Force to keep alive the memory of their wartime experiences.  It offers a monthly public lecture program.  Its educational unit comes into classrooms in authentic military uniform with exhibits to talk with students about WW2.  Round Table membership is open to the general public, veteran or not.  For information, call Russell Baril at 203-272-6300.

Am Vets is open to all American veterans.  For information about it and about POWs and MIAs, call Rene Gagnon at 203-272-4367.
