PFLAG Chapter Meeting

Sarah Pearlman, a well-known author on lesbian and transgender issues, will read from her book, “Mother-Talk: Conversations with Mothers of Lesbian Daughters and FTM Transgender Children”—capturing what it is like to be the mother of a lesbian daughter or a child, born a biological female, who is planning sex reassignment.

This ground-breaking book takes readers into the lives of these mothers as they talk about coming to terms with the loss of a daughter who has changed sex—or the loss of an anticipated relationship with a daughter, now a lesbian, who lives in a different world and will lead a different life.

Sarah Pearlman is nationally recognized for her pioneering role in establishing a psychology of lesbians. She was selected by the Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues (Division 44 of the American Psychological Association) as the recipient of the 2011 Award for Distinguished Professional Contribution.
