Congrats! Cheshire Students Receive Scholarships

The Cheshire Community Theater awarded the scholarships.

The Cheshire Community Theater (CCT) is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Alvah Root Scholarships. Benjamin Saccoccio and Brigitte Kenny were presented with scholarships at the Cheshire Community Theater’s annual picnic on Sunday, June 22nd at Bartlem Park.

Benjamin Saccoccio is a lifelong Cheshire resident and loves being in front of a crowd. He graduated from Cheshire High School this year, and will be attending NYU's Tisch School, majoring in Film and Television Production.

Brigitte Kenny also graduated from Cheshire High School this year and will be attending the University of Rhode Island. She is majoring in Theatre with a concentration in Theatre Design and Tech, and Stage Management

The Cheshire Community Theater scholarship is offered to high school seniors who are pursuing a career in the arts. Since 1978, Cheshire Community Theater has granted an annual award on the basis of financial need and academic performance, with preference given to those interested in a career in the performing arts. 

The scholarship has been named in memory of Alvah Root, who is remembered with love and warmth by CCT members.
