Second Presidential Debate: What Drives Mitt Romney?

Of course Mitt Romney wants to win the election!
 
But is there any evidence that he is ardently driven by the desire to make life better for us? Or does Romney view the campaign as a high stakes game and the presidency as a personal trophy?

The strategy which Romney uses has made his intentions pitifully transparent. Romney does not have an inner core, and isn’t serious about developing real solutions for difficult issues.

He says whatever he feels he has to say, even if contradicts what he has previously stated as his true positions.

If Romney wins, the election will be at our expense. Why?

Bill Clinton, commenting on Romney’s new found Obama-like policies,  said, “It was like one of these Bain Capital deals, you know, where he’s the closer. So he shows up, doesn’t really know much about the deal and says, ‘Tell me what I’m supposed to say to close.’ Now, the problem with this deal is the deal was made by severe-conservative Mitt.”

President Obama on the other hand has been slogging through the problems that beset us year after year, in order to make life better for all Americans

Seriously addressing these issues is not as glamorous as spouting off in a debate and “looking presidential” as Romney has done. And the fact is that congressional Republicans, especially Paul Ryan, have done everything they could to thwart Obama in order to make him fail.

And this was not because of ideology, for God only knows how many times Ryan compromised his principles at our expense when he supported bills that Bush wanted passed.

Abortion

Need votes from women? Easy; just turn into Mitt Obama. He now says he has no intention of pushing legislation to limit the rights of women to choose.
But the problem is that Mitt Obama does not really exist. Do not be taken in by this cruel deception

His spokesperson quickly set the record straight reassuring social conservative supporters that Romney would sign legislation that would protect life.

Romney shamelessly accuses President Obama of doing things that he himself does and clearly couldn’t care less about about the issues he raises.

Trade With China

Mitt Romney disingenuously and again shamelessly accuses Obama of doing nothing about American jobs being stolen by China. Romney upset?!

Is he upset that Bain Capital closed two camshaft factories that cost 500 American jobs. Guess where those jobs are? China! When asked about it Romney makes up lame excuses without calling for a change.

Foreign Policy Muscle

The one scary thing that Romney may really believe is extremely dangerous. As Thomas Friedman recently wrote, according to Romney, “America stands astride the globe with unrivaled power to bend the world our way, and the only thing missing is a president with “will.”

 “The only thing missing is a president who is ready to simultaneously confront Russia, bash China, tell Iraqis we’re not leaving their country, snub the Muslim world by outsourcing our Arab-Israel policy to the prime minister of Israel, green light Israel to bomb Iran.”
How scary is that?

Finally, is it possible that Romney believes his own assertions that he will raise the defense budget, cut taxes while at the same time eliminate the deficit?

Of course not and neither should you. If he truly cared about the middle class, jobs, health care, Medicare and education he would have shown us the results of his pouring over these issues.
