Cheshire Obituaries: Thomas J. Markovich, 97

Thomas J. Markovich, 97, of Cheshire, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born in New York City on March 30, 1916, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Markovich. He was a supervisor for AT&T in Carney, NJ for many years before his retirement.

He enjoyed gardening and traveling and will be greatly missed by his dog, Fiore.

Survivors include his close friend of over 60 years, George Guinta of Cheshire, nieces and nephews, Joseph Weiner, Peg Guinta and her husband Phil, Gary Pia and his wife Michele, Donna Guinta, Greg Pia and his wife Rina, Thomas Guinta and his wife Cindy, Carmen Guinta, Jr. and his wife Kathleen, a sister-in-law, Clara Markovich and several grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, George, Joseph and Frank Markovich and three sisters, Olga Weiner, Dolly McCombs and Ann Markovich.

Friends are invited to meet directly in The Church of Saint Bridget, 175 Main St., Cheshire on Monday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Animal Shelter, 500 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410.
