Edward S. Fitzpatrick, 86; Cheshire Resident Who Was a Retired NYPD Sergeant


Edward S. Fitzpatrick, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was born September 16, 1927, in County Cavan, Ireland, the son of the late Peter and Mary (Cullen) Fitzpatrick.

He came to the U.S. in 1947 and was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a police officer for the New York City Police Department, where he obtained the rank of sergeant. He had been a Cheshire resident since 2000, where he was a communicant of St. Bridget Church.

Mr. Fitzpatrick is survived by his son, Dr. Edward P. Fitzpatrick and his wife Maureen of Cheshire; his brother, Jimmy of Dublin, Ireland; his sisters, Rose Maguire of New Fairfield and Mary Neary of Yonkers; as well as his grandchildren, Brian, Alana, Deirdre, Kevin, Maura and Eamon.

He was the husband of the late Kathleen Fitzpatrick. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 9:45 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., to St. Bridget Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held in Ireland.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
