Cheshire Obituaries: Joseph E. Ignatowski, 77

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.



Joseph E. Ignatowski, 77, of Hamden, formerly of Cheshire, died Dec. 30, 2013.

He was born in Derby on Aug. 15, 1936, a son of the late Joseph and Sophie Masiak Ignatowski and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He had been employed by Pratt & Whitney in North Haven for 33 years until his retirement. He was a cancer survivor and a friend of Bill W. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion and AARP.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Ruth Ignatowski of Virginia and John and Stephanie Ignatowski of Cheshire; his five grandchildren, Amber, Rachael, Jayden, Aubrey and Ashley; his companion, Donna Yale of Meriden; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Eleanor Ignatowski and Florence Coulombe.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A service will follow in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.
