Obituary for Daniel Marchitello of Cheshire

The following obituary was provided by

Daniel Marchitello, 71, died Monday at home. He was the husband of Elizabeth LaBonia. Dan was born September 3, 1940 in New Cannan, the son of the late Donado and Mary (Reppi) Marchitello. He was a Cheshire resident for over 30 years. 

He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and began his career with the Secret Service in New York. Throughout the 1970’s Dan conducted many intelligence, forgery and counterfeit currency investigations across the country.

From 1980 until 1995 he was a Special Agent in charge of the Secret Service Connecticut Office. During that time he was responsible for security arrangements for six presidents and foreign dignitaries visiting the U.S. He was awarded Presidential Commendation letters from President Ronald Regan and President Regan’s Chief of Staff. During this time he obtained his Masters in Organizational Management from Central Connecticut State University.

After 28 years, he retired from the Secret Service and was then appointed by Governor John Rowland to the Division of Special Revenue, State of CT Gaming Policy Board as Deputy Director. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.

Dan is survived by his wife and his daughters Marisa Hache and Kim Marchitello of Georgia, his son Miguel Marchitello of Tenn., his stepson Vincent Ferraiolo of Durham, his stepdaughter Beth Holland of Cheshire, his sisters Theresa Bozzuto and Angie Hefner of New York and his three grandchildren Nile, Mason and Angelina. He is preceded by his brother Steve.

Arrangements - Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home, 615 S. Main Street in Cheshire. Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 9 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass at St. Bridget Church in Cheshire at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
