Obituary for Fred Cramer

The president and CEO of Marion Manufacturing died Thursday.

Mr. Frederick “ Fred “ E. Cramer, 65, of Wolcott, formerly of Southington, passed away unexpectedly Thursday June 7, at his home. He was the husband of Mary L. (Messina) Cramer.

Fred was born in Waterbury on October 28, 1946, son of the late Frederick R. and Mary A. (Early) Cramer. He was the Owner, CEO and President of The Marion Manufacturing Company, operating in Cheshire for the past 65 years. He was the Senior Vice President and Engineer for the past four years; he celebrated his fifty year anniversary at The Marion Manufacturing Company this year.

He became a Master Mason on May 8, 1984 as a member of the Friendship Lodge #33 in Southington, also a member of the Lafayette Consistory, Member of Scottish Rite of Waterbury. He joined Sphinx Shrine of Newington in 1984 while his father was the sitting Potentate.

Fred was very active in Sphinx Shrine serving as President and Director’s Staff, where he was made Director Emeritus because of his dedication and hard work. He was also an assistant Chief Aide to a sitting Potentate. He was also President of the Kabban Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jester, Hartford Court #141 where he served as Director in 2008. Also a life member of Kachina Club. He participated in many functions of the Shrine and was always a first to lend a helping hand or to help someone in need.

Besides his wife of fourty-three years, he is survived by a son, Michael L.Cramer and his wife Jamie of Falls Church, VA; a daughter, Jessica L. Richard and her husband Daryl of West Hartford; a sister, Judith Lucker of Wolcott; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Cramer and a sister, Sr. Maybeth Cramer.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, June, 13, at 9:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to St. Michael’s Church for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday (today) 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
