Obituary for Marion Cornell

Services for Marion Cornell, 89, will be held Saturday.

Marion (Novak) Cornell, 89, of Cheshire died at her home on Wednesday. Marion was the wife of the late William L. Cornell. She was born in Southington on September 18, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Pernal) Novak.

Marion was employed by GE in Plantsville as a class B motor winder. She was an avid gardener, but also loved to collect antiques. Marion received a great satisfaction in arranging artificial flowers, and driving with her daughter Karen. She had a place in her heart for all animals.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Karen Gomberg of Southington; a niece Ann Nelson, also of Southington, and a nephew Charles Novak of Queensburg, NY. 

A funeral mass will be held tomorrow, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., in Southington. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cheshire. There are no calling hours.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is in charge of arrangements.
