St. Stan's Students Use Telescopes to View Sun

Saint Stanislaus School Academy of Math and Science students in grades 2, 3 and 6 recently used telescopes to view the sun.

The second and third graders used the telescopes with filters on them to look at the sun.  They saw the difference that the type of lens makes in what they could see.  They were able to look at sunspots through one of the telescopes.

The grade six students used the telescopes as an introduction to their study of astronomy. One telescope allowed the students to view the chromosphere and the other the photosphere. They too were able to visualize some black sun spots.
