Suzio: Gov. Malloy Won’t Rule Out Tax Hikes

Sen. Len Suzio, R-13, pledges to oppose all tax hikes when the State Senate reconvenes in January.

To the Editor:

At a press conference on Sept. 24, Gov. Malloy opened the door to tax hikes to help balance the budget for 2013-2014.

I will be working morning noon and night to slam the door on any tax hikes. Our state's hard pressed taxpayers need an unequivocal commitment that additional tax increases will not be used to balance next year's budget.

There is no alternative but to balance the budget the way ordinary Connecticut families balance their budgets — by cutting back expenses to match revenues. We need to balance the budget the old-fashioned way — with responsible budget’s that reduce wasteful spending.

Connecticut taxpayers need and want a firm commitment to hold the line on tax increases and spending. The days of increasing taxes to make up for budget mistakes are over. I am pledged to voting against any tax increase as a budget balancing option next year.

Every candidate should make the same pledge to voters this fall.

The governor cannot raise taxes again. This state is already the worst state to retire in the nation. That's something to be strive for. i guess if he raises taxes again then Connecticut can become the worst place in the country to live for everyone, not just those who are retired. The governor wonders why the unemployment is over 9%.

When we (as citizens) run short of money to pay our bills, we can't automatically increase our income, we have to CUT back on spending to meet our budget, What is Gov. Malloy thinking?. He should run the State of CT just as one would manage a Private business.

Len Suzio deserves your vote! If you want common sense instead of higher TAXES, more deficits and fewer JOBS, Suzio is your man! We must have some restraints upon the business killing, job killing Malloy, and Dante will definitely NOT do that job!!
