A nine-year-old girl was taken to a hospital Monday morning after being hurt on the sledding hill at Mixville Recreation Area.

A  nine-year-old girl who attends Doolittle Elementary School was hurt Monday morning in a sledding accident at Mixville Recreation Area.

The Cheshire Fire Department responded to the emergency call about 11:30 a.m. and brought the girl down the sledding hill, said police spokesman Lt. James Fasano. The girl's name isn't being released due to her age.

A Cheshire parent who witnessed the accident said it appeared the girl had a leg injury, possibly a broken leg. The parent asked not to be identified.

Fasano said he couldn't release the information on what hospital the girl was taken to by Campion Ambulance.

This is the second injury at the sledding hill this season. Another young girl was taken to a hospital on Dec. 30 after she hurt her neck. Fasano said he has not heard that the neck injury was serious.
