Applications are Being Accepted for the 2014 Citizens Police Academy

Interested in law enforcement? The Cheshire Citizen's Police Academy can give you a taste of what's it's like to be a police officer.

From the office of the Cheshire Chief of Police:

The Cheshire Police Department is accepting applications for the 2014 Citizens Police Academy, which provides citizens with information and hands on training in a variety of Cheshire Police topics.

The citizen’s Police Academy will be taught by members of the Cheshire Police Department and various department agencies, who will share their knowledge and experiences from a training perspective.

Sessions will meet for eight weeks on Tuesday nights between 7 and 9 p.m. beginning Feb. 25 at the Cheshire Police Department, 500 Highland Ave. Cheshire.

The weekly sessions will explore the history and training of the Cheshire Police Department, introduce its specialized units, and explore accident investigations, use of force drills, family/youth services and the Detective Division. 

Participants will have an opportunity to participate in a ride along experience with a Cheshire Police Officer.  Upon completion of the program, all participants will formally graduate.

The Cheshire Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy is open to residents of the Town of Cheshire who are 18 years or older. All applicants will be the subject of a criminal background check.
