Cheshire Bank Employee Charged with Embezzlement

Bank teller arrested for embezzling from customer accounts.

A former bank teller at will face a judge next month on felony charges of embezzling $253,000 from customer accounts.

The investigation of Sarah Kwasinskas, 30, of Naugatuck began late last year said spokesman Lt. James Fasano. "They did an audit of her teller drawer and discovered a discrepancy," he said.

Police say Kwasinskas allegedly embezzled from 17 customers of the bank located at 1699 Highland Ave. Fasano said the victims ranged in age from 17 to 93 years old.

Kwasinskas turned herself in to Cheshire police on Jan. 10 at 5:41 a.m. after a warrant for her arrest had been issued, Fasano said. The early morning arrest allowed police to get Kwasinskas to Meriden Superior court in time for the morning arraignment session.

Kwansinskas was released on a $10,000 cash bond. Her court date is scheduled for. Feb. 16.
