Cheshire Bus Driver in Rear End Collision

Cheshire resident driving transit bus that was rear ended in East Haven.

Cheshire resident Alexander Diosa, 37, was driving a CT Transit bus Monday in East Haven when police report the bus was rear ended by a box truck. Diosa wasn't injured in the accident, according to police, but about two dozen passengers were sent to two New Haven hospitals. About five had serious injuries.

The truck driver is identified as Juan Rodriguez, 28, of Allentown, Penn.

"A pedestrian had just secured a bicycle to the front of the bus when the bus was struck from behind by the truck," East Haven Police Lt. Joseph Slane stated in a release.

"The bus had a lot of passengers on it," said  Chief Douglas Jackson. "We had a lot of people to move."
