Cheshire Cop Returns With New Skills

The New Haven Register reports that Cheshire Police Sgt. Fred Jortner is back with the department after spending four years the Statewide Narcotics Task Force.

For the past four years, Cheshire Police officer Fred Jortner has spent his time investigating drug cases for the Statewide Narcotics Task Force.

But now Jortner, newly made a sergeant, will be using his skills back here in Cheshire, the New Haven Register reports.

On Friday, Jortner was promoted in a ceremony at the Cheshire Police Department, marking his return to the department where he'll now oversee the overnight shift, according to the report.

Jortner's return comes at a time when the department needs him most. It's down several people due to resignations and retirements, but also gained three more officers Friday, according to the post.
