Cheshire Police Add Second New Officer

New officer to be sworn in on July 9

The second Cheshire police officer to be hired in a month will join the department in early July. The new recruit, David Maliar, will be sworn in on July 9 at 3 p.m. at

Maliar, 30, of West Hartford, is a graduate of Windsor High School and received his bachelors degree in communications from Central Connecticut State University. He is pursuing a master’s degree in Community Relations. 

In mid-July, Maliar will join Vincent Nastri, who was hired June 26, at the Connecticut Police Academy for 20 weeks of training. Maliar will then partner with a field training officer for three more months before beginning his duties as a patrol officer.
