Workers at Tufano Amusement went about their business Friday afternoon after police say one of their co-workers was accidentally shot at the carnival company's headquarters in north Cheshire.
Workers live on the property at 1695 Reinhard Road when they're not on the road with the traveling carnival. Police Lt. Chris Cote said Meriden Police alerted them after the victim was taken to MidState Medical Center about 1:20 a.m. on Friday.
A worker who wouldn't give his name on Friday afternoon said he didn't know the condition of the 24-year-old victim or his identity. The worker did confirm the victim lived at the location which is behind the Cox Communications building on Highland Avenue.
Cote said the victim had a single gunshot wound to the chest and was airlifted to Hartford Hospital shortly after arriving at MidState. Police said the victim underwent surgery in Hartford. Police said the victim was driven to MidState by some co-workers. His name or condition have not been released.
Coincidentally, a carnival being o early last weekend after police say criminal activity and fist fights broke at Hamden Mart on Dixwell Avenue.
