DUI Stop Ends in Car Theft Arrest

Cheshire police pull over three men in a stolen car after an officer noticed the vehicle swerving on Route 10.

Three New Britain are facing a number larceny charges after they were caught driving a stolen car in Cheshire last weekend, police said.

Just after midnight on Dec. 17, an on-duty Cheshire officer noticed a black 1998 Acura with three men inside driving erratically on Route 10, said Lt. James Fasano, police spokesman.

The officer looked up the license plate of the Acura and found out that the vehicle was stolen in New Britain. He conducted a traffic stop and determined that the driver, 21-year-old Dilicia Knipping, was under the influence of alcohol, Fasano said.

Knipping and two passengers, 23-year-old Jose Torres and 29-year-old Daniel Rivera, were all charged with third-degree larceny and a conspiracy to commit larceny. Knipping and Rivera were also charged DUI and other motor vehicle charges, police said.
