Fire Damages Cheshire Home Monday

The fire displaced the family but no one was seriously injured, according to fire officials.

Cheshire firefighters were able to contain a fire that damaged a Sorghum Mill Drive home Monday morning to the garage before it spread to the main portion of the house.

The fire broke out shortly after 8 a.m. Monday morning, according to fire officials. Crews from Prospect and Southington responded to the call in addition to Cheshire firefighters.

The fire started in the attached garage of the two-story colonial but was extinguished before spreading to the main part of the house, according to officials, though there was smoke damage to the house.

No one was seriously injured, according to fire officials, but one person was treated for minor injuries. Two cars parked in the garage were destroyed.

The cause is being investigated and hasn't been determined, officials said.
